Prototype Version of the CSISS Social Science Archive Search

- this is a prototype development site for a clearinghouse
of information about spatial data resources for social science
research - the CSISS Social Science Archive Search Tool (CSSAST)
The goal is to enable a search of multiple archival
sources of spatially referenced data by geographical
locations. Search results will yield abstracts of data
sets at host archives.
Refinement of the Search Tool is under development.
Current limitations include:
- searches are limited to only a few archives in
selected test countries
- the absence of a uniform metadata standard for archives
in representing the spatial content of their datasets
- current access restraints to the metadata records
of many data archives
CSISS encourages uniform standards and open access
to descriptive information on the contents of archives
